Proverbs 1:5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: Hearing is a work of God's grace. It is a spiritual work. "The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them (Prov 20:12)." We must hear if we will have faith. For "faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Rom 10:17)." The supreme objective of hearing the word of God should be that we would come to know Him in the person of Jesus Christ, for "it is of Him [God] are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom..."(1 Cor 1:30).
So here is the question: Are you desirous to hear wisdom? If so, do you realize that such wisdom God had placed in a Person, His dear Son Jesus? Out everything you do, whether it be religious or otherwise, are you coming to know Christ to a greater degree? Do you desire to know Him? If we cannot answer positively, in the affirmative, then we truly lack wisdom. BUT thanks be to God! The Bible encourages us, " If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5)."
